THE REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD
The church began in the month of November 1996 as an outreach mission of Jesus House, the Redeemed Christian Church of God. It had a predominantly Nigerian membership and has evolved to include members across the Ghanaian and Ugandan communities. It began with a group of 7 adults to presently a church of 250 adults and approximately 150 children. Its operations have moved along these lines and have developed organically to support the church. In June-July 1998, the church moved from Fairfield Halls and took over Faith Growth Ministries based at 38/40 Parsons Mead – our current premises in West Croydon. The following year, the 3-story building was bought and has become the permanent base and place of worship.
Vision & Mission
RCCG Croydon Tabernacle is a family church that is passionately committed to reconciling individuals, communities and the nation to God. To achieve this, we are devoted to:
LOVE FOR ALL
God is love and it is our love as Christians that sets us apart. We are called to reflect God and Jesus Christ’s love to others without judgement and be the light and the difference in our world.
Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” – Matthew 22:37-40
God called us to live in unity with one another, so we must make every effort to live together in harmony with everyone from among ourselves down to the communities around us regardless of beliefs and differences.
Brothers and sisters, by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, I beg all of you to agree with each other. You should not be divided into different groups. Be completely joined together again with the same kind of thinking and the same purpose. – 1 Corinthians 1:10
In others words “doing what is right”. Living in righteousness is crucial to our relationship and walk with God. This requires a daily demonstration of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness and faith.
Great blessings belong to those who want to do right more than anything else. God will fully satisfy them. – Matthew 5:6
MAKE HEAVEN WITH OTHERS
Our ultimate goal is to make heaven and take as many people as possible with us. It is clear that the enemy’s aim is to bring enmity between the church and God by creating disunity and lack of genuine love among brethren, thereby making people who are supposed to be Disciples of Christ to indulge in unrighteous living and disobeying God commandments at will. Consequently, the work of soul winning becomes difficult and unachievable.
Raising disciples that are ready to take the love of Christ to the communities and nation is of utmost importance now that we have various problems such as youth crime, high unemployment rates, homelessness, uncertainty due to the pandemic and so on.
So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything that I have told you to do. You can be sure that I will be with you always. I will continue with you until the end of time.” – Matthew 28:19-20
Our vision which is line with the RCCG Mandate drives our desire for church planting. Over the years; we have planted different parishes in and around Greater London and has recently planted two new churches targeted to cut across diverse cultures and people – The Gateway Church.
